• Spring-Time to Refresh Your Mind

    Welcome back

Spring is a time of new growth, of hope and encouragement. After the cold dark winter days we welcome longer daylight hours, blue skies, blossoms and bird song.

It’s a time for renewed optimism, to put away dark thoughts and to believe in a brighter future. As you look around and marvel at the unfolding growth, it becomes so much easier to picture brighter days ahead.

Springtime is a perfect time to refresh your mind, to sow the seeds of positive thoughts, and to visualize a brighter better future.

As we prepare the soil in readiness to receive new plants, so you can prepare yourself for to receive fresh new thoughts in your mind, rid yourself of old negative ones.

Try to find, or imagine yourself in a quiet place outdoors, perhaps the corner of a garden, a park bench, a field, or maybe a country lane. Choose a secluded spot and make yourself comfortable… Be aware of the peace and beauty surrounding you…

Take a long slow deep breath… relax… continue to breathe deeply and slowly… relax… As you breath in, imagine a cascade of cool refreshing spring water surrounding and entering your body… feel yourself relax as your mind and body become refreshed… renewed… relax…

As you breathe out, imagine that all your old unwanted thoughts and feelings are being washed away… relax… you are refreshed, you are renewed… you are receptive to new thoughts, new beliefs… you are at peace.

  • Opposites Attract

Opposites attract in more ways than one, but have you ever stopped to think a little further about that?

What and how we think plays an important part in our lives. If we constantly harbor negative thoughts, and continually concentrate on such things as lack, hurt, regret, and failure, then sure enough, that is exactly what you will attract into your life.

Why not then do the opposite, and attract the good things into our lives? It’s simply a case of paying a little more attention to our thoughts and turning them around into more pleasurable, positive thoughts.

If you begin to pay close attention to yourself, you will be become aware of, and catch yourself in the act of negative thought, speech and actions.

Now whenever this happens, consciously make an effort to think exactly the opposite. Try to form a picture in your mind of exactly the opposite and act as if the more pleasurable positive thought were true.

Practise swapping over your thoughts as often as you can, you will be pleasantly surprised at the changes that you will begin to see in your life as a result… when it comes to your thoughts… opposites really do attract.

The best way to banish your negative thoughts is to replace them with positive thoughts.

It’s hard to suddenly stop them completely, after all, they have become an ingrained habit. But with a little practise they can and will be replaced with more desirable positive thoughts. Visualization can play an important part in this practice, and help reinforce new habits.

When you become aware of a negative thought, you can listen and acknowledge it, but then tell yourself that the opposite is in fact the truth. You then need to divert your creative energy towards a more positive frame of mind.

Bring an image to mind of how the opposite thought would look and feel in reality. Imagine how good your life would be when the positive thought becomes a reality.

Each time the negative thought arises, replace it with the opposite. By doing this, you will in fact be creating another more positive habit, which will eventually replace the old one completely.

Your mind is an obedient creature, and if something is repeated often enough, it will accept it as true, and eventually you find that you are acting accordingly.

Try it, you will be pleasantly surprised at just how well it really works, and remember, the more you practise, the easier it becomes and the sooner your unwanted thoughts will be permanently replaced

  • Watch Your Thoughts

Watch your thoughts carefully. Your thoughts have the power to change your life in more ways than one.

The problem is, that for most of us, our thoughts are automatic and habitual. It is the habitual thoughts that we most need to change in order to make changes for the better in our lives.

One of the best ways to tackle your habitual unwanted thoughts is to swap them for new improved ones. But first you need to be aware of the harm that your automatic thoughts are doing.

Did you realize for example that both negative and positive thoughts are affirmations? Most people are inclined to regard only positive statements as affirmations, but your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between positive and negative, it merely acts upon whatever thoughts you choose to feed it.

One way round this unfortunate habit is to stop yourself in your tracks as soon as you become aware that you are thinking in the negative. Be aware of the thought, catch it, and write it down. Now think of a statement that conjures up a vision of the complete opposite and write it down.

Cross out the negative statement, and once again write down the positive one. Next time you catch yourself starting to think along those negative lines, mentally cross them out and quickly replace them with with your positive statement. See yourself literally pasting the positive statement over the negative.

You will find it helpful to repeat your positive statement to yourself whenever you can. Try to picture it written out in front of you.. Maybe on your desk top, the walls, doors, mirrors.. Soon the positive thought will become the automatic habit and you will then be able to picture your success with ease.
