• Do You Really Want to Quit that Habit?

    Welcome back

Do you really want to quit that habit? So often people say that they would like to be able to give up a particular habit, but in reality they do not want to. Are you one of them?

Invariably the underlying problem is that the habit has become like a security blanket, and giving up the habit would be akin to being forcibly removed from your comfort zone.

What usually happens is that a feeling of insecurity sets in. What will I do without…? How will I cope?…How will I be able to…?

Well now, just how did you manage before you embarked on your habit? If you are honest with yourself you managed perfectly well, you only think that you didn’t.

Once again, it all comes back to your thoughts and your beliefs. Your thoughts and beliefs are what you need to change.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to stop a habit is to exchange it for a different more desirable, less harmful one. For instance, you could pop a peppermint in your mouth instead of chocolate, wine, or cigarettes. You could force yourself to raise a smile instead of a scowl.

At the same time, change your thoughts, try to switch your attention to something entirely different, think back to all the occasions when you’ve been perfectly content, when you’ve even been successful, without the help of your security blanket.

Have a little faith in yourself

  • Are You Bored by Repetition?

Are you easily bored? Do you tire of constant repetition? Maybe you have learned that particular lesson and it’s time to move on, time to stretch your abilities.

Up to a point, repetition is a good thing, it reinforces learning, good behaviour and habits. But after a time, when we have totally absorbed the information and it has become deeply embedded, we may become frustrated, and feel the urge to seek more information, to find other challenges.

Don’t scold yourself, if you find that you have become bored by repetition, it could be a turning point, a sign that it is time for you to move forward. You have learnt and absorbed certain lessons and must now look further ahead, you can now advance your efforts.

It could be all to easy to remain in your comfort zone, but a little nagging inner voice whispers to you. Once again, like a siren your subconscious mind is calling out to you to sit up and take notice.

Is it time to revaluate your goals? Time to take the next step forward? You have proven to yourself that you have the ability to learn, that in itself is an accomplishment.

So sit down quietly, clear your mind, and map out where you want to go next. What is your ultimate goal? what is the next step? what more do you need to learn? where can you get the best advice?..meditate, ask your subconscious mind to help.

  • Break Free from your Comfort Zone

There comes a time in the life of every living being, when it becomes necessary to break free from the safety of their comfort zone. The transformation that occurs as a result can be awe inspiring.

Take nature for example. How a tiny insignificant seed can break open to release delicate roots that grow into an exotic array of flowers, or maybe into a forest of tall majestic trees.

Whenever I see a butterfly in all its splendor, I am reminded of how those beautiful painted creatures have each emerged from the confined space of a small chrysalis.

Have you ever marvelled at the way a little bird pecks away at its shell until it cracks open and allows the bird to emerge free and transformed.

A snake, when it changes it’s skin, wriggles it’s way out of the old one and leaves it behind to disintegrate. Crabs as they outgrow their shells, grow much bigger and beautiful ones.

You too, can break free from your old ways, habits, and thoughts. Give yourself a chance, allow yourself to break free from your comfort zone, from the restrictions of outdated thoughts. Allow your mind open itself up to new ideas, beliefs and opportunities. Your life can be transformed beyond recognition. A whole new world awaits you. You can do it.
