• A Change for the Better

    Welcome back

Tonight will find people all around the globe celebrating the end of an old decade and rejoicing in the new. Everyone will be wishing for a change for the better.

No matter what it is they hope for, it could be a change in the world, their lifestyle, health, or wealth. But whatever the desired change it is always assumed that the change will be for the better.

We can all make a change for the better in our lives, but it has to start in the mind, and in our thoughts. To keep the hope and optimism alive, we need to fill our minds with happy positive thoughts. The past, no matter how awful, is past. In the future there lies an opportunity for each of us to start anew.

It is the hope of new beginnings that is behind the world wide celebrations. Those who can hold fast to their vision throughout the year will find the year ahead full of opportunities.

Don’t think for one moment that the past equals the future, new opportunities can occur where and when they are least expected.

Keep a relaxed open mind, and be ready to accept a change for the better in your life.

  • Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time there lived a beautiful soul who didn’t know what to do. The poor soul was unhappy, because it felt it didn’t belong. The tortured soul longed for a new body, a new life, new experiences, but didn’t know which way to turn.

Does the dilemma of that beautiful soul sound familiar? Do you recognize the symptoms? It’s a familiar scenario that occurs when a turning point has been reached, and the inner voice is crying out to be heard.

Don’t try to push it away, acknowledge that the time has come for change. There is a continual cycle of change and growth in the life of every living being and nothing remains static.

The secret of life is to accept the changes that will occur and adapt accordingly. You can help yourself by taking time out to assess and evaluate the situation.

Ask yourself how you could gain from the imminent changes ahead. What have you put on hold in the past? Could this be the opportunity for you achieve a long forgotten dream? Whatever your goal in life, it is never too late.

Broaden your horizons, try something different, take up a new interest, learn something new, visit a different neighborhood, join a club, meet new people, anything to brush off the old cobwebs and shake yourself out of the doldrums.

A change is as good as a rest, and it’s never too late to change.

  • Be Selfish for a Change

Every once in a while you need to take a break from trying to be all things to all people. Don’t let yourself become stressed out, be selfish for a change. The break will calm, refresh and revitalize you. Reward yourself, and give yourself some quality time for a change.

The modern lifestyle of today can be so hectic at times. It often seems that all the technology we now have just adds more to the frenetic haste and pressure.

You and I are only human, not machines. Humans have a need to take time out, to refresh the mind, the body and soul.
As Stuart Wilde would say, ‘Life wasn’t meant to be a struggle’.

There are so many ways to take time out for yourself and we all have our different preferences. Some may prefer a walk in the park, in the forest, or a stroll along the seashore. Indulge in your favorite pastime, or try a new one. Write a good old fashioned hand written letter to someone, dabble with a few paints. Maybe a long soak in warm scented bath, a glass of wine perhaps, listen to a favorite piece of music, or simply curl up with a good book.

Make a date with yourself now, and treat yourself to some quality time for a change. Relax and enjoy your ‘me time’, you deserve it.

  • Change your Thoughts

Without doubt, you have the ability to change your thoughts and consequently your life. Our thoughts are sheer habits, and thoughts, just like any unwanted habits, can be replaced with more desirable ones. But it’s important to be persistent, as it takes around 21 days to create a habit, and two months for it to be firmly established.

Did you know, that over 98% of human behaviour is based on habit? and 85% of our beliefs are negative? No wonder it seems a sorry old world out there.

Fortunately, there are tools available to help you change your thoughts for the better. By far the most successful are affirmations and guided meditations.

Affirmations are positive statements. When you repeat them mentally and verbally, your subconscious mind believes and acts upon them. Your affirmations can be written on sticky notes and placed strategically around your home and office, or printed on small cards to carry in your pocket, purse or handbag, and/or recorded to listen to on your cd or mp3 player.

Guided meditations have the added advantage of helping you to achieve deep beneficial relaxation, while your subconscious mind takes notes and acts upon the suggestions. Again, the scripts can be recorded and listened to on your cd or mp3 player when you have a quiet undisturbed moment.
