It’s hard to suddenly stop them completely, after all, they have become an ingrained habit. But with a little practise they can and will be replaced with more desirable positive thoughts. Visualization can play an important part in this practice, and help reinforce new habits.
When you become aware of a negative thought, you can listen and acknowledge it, but then tell yourself that the opposite is in fact the truth. You then need to divert your creative energy towards a more positive frame of mind.
Bring an image to mind of how the opposite thought would look and feel in reality. Imagine how good your life would be when the positive thought becomes a reality.
Each time the negative thought arises, replace it with the opposite. By doing this, you will in fact be creating another more positive habit, which will eventually replace the old one completely.
Your mind is an obedient creature, and if something is repeated often enough, it will accept it as true, and eventually you find that you are acting accordingly.
Try it, you will be pleasantly surprised at just how well it really works, and remember, the more you practise, the easier it becomes and the sooner your unwanted thoughts will be permanently replaced
