• Tools for Thought

    Welcome back

So often we are told to change our thoughts to change our life, but alas, as much as we wish it to be true, it seems easier said than done. What are the tools for thought? How can we best get rid of our rusty old thoughts and swap them for shiny new ones?

Well as I’m sure you know, there are so many different options and modalities out there today that it can be hard to choose from them all.
Which one is right for you? Which path should you follow?

Unfortunately there is no easy answer, each one has their own merits, believers and followers. It would seem as though there is no ‘one size fits all.’..Or is there?

We are all different, and each of us has our own unique way of viewing the world. These views are neither right nor wrong, but purely the opinion of each individual. What feels right for you, is right for you.

Whether you believe it to be gut instinct, intuition, or the power of your subconscious, you are correct. You must do what you know is truly right for you.

It’s possible that you haven’t yet found the method or modality that is right for you, don’t worry, just try to be as relaxed about it as you can. There is a well known saying in spiritual circles, that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

I will gradually introduce various possibilities to you in future posts. Meanwhile, if you have a particular query or request, you are always welcome to contact me privately, via my contact page.

  • Why Worry?

What is worry? Worry is negative imagination, and continued negative imagination will not help you one iota. So why worry? Why do you impose negative thoughts upon yourself?

Don’t let yourself get so worked up and fretful. Stop feeding your mind with thoughts of doom, gloom, and disaster. Try to relax and calm down a little. Be a little more selective with your thoughts, predict a better future for yourself.

It’s silly and futile to drag yourself down unnecessarily, It’s just as easy to imagine a happier outcome, and as a result you will feel more confident, positive, and able to cope.

Know that you have been given the inner strength and ability to cope, whatever happens in your life, even if one door slams firmly shut, another door will always be held open for you. If your chosen path appears to be blocked, remove the obstacle or change direction, make a detour. (All roads lead to Rome.)

You have been given the powerful gift of imagination, don’t abuse it, use it to build a better brighter future for yourself and for others.

Take some nice long deep breaths..and again..allow your eyes to close and relax…Be aware of the gentle rise and fall of your breathing..allow your thoughts to drift..think of calm, peace, serenity and love.

  • Did You Receive Your Message?

Did you receive your message today? Messages are being delivered to us all the while but not necessarily in the manner that we expect. Some of the most timely messages arrive when we least expect them.

How often have you been mulling something over in your mind wishing you could find an answer, only to give up in frustration and turn your thoughts elsewhere?

It’s a curious fact, but the moment you switch off is the moment that your subconscious mind starts to work on your behalf. Freed from the interference of your conscious mind, it allows your thought waves to go out into the universe.

That is when exciting things can start to happen. Happy coincidences will appear as if from nowhere. Quite out of the blue, a newspaper or magazine article could suddenly provide the information you are looking for. It may even be in a publication that you don’t normally read, one that has been given to you, or that you have picked up by chance in a waiting room.

You may receive some information in a letter, or a telephone call, or hear an item of news or gossip which leads to a eureka moment.

All around us are signs and snippets of information that will show us the way, and give us the illusive answer we have been looking for. Messages are continually being sent to us when we least expect them.

Next time you have a niggling pressing question, just switch off, relax, and be open to the suggestions that will present themselves to you.

  • The Power of Your Pen

One of the most useful tools you can wield is a humble pen. The power of your pen can be formidable. A pen has the power to make friends or enemies and in times of stress and need, it can bring you hope and encouragement.

When faced with a problem, one of the best things you can do is to sit down with pen and paper to clarify the situation. Draw a line down the center of the page to make two columns, label one side Pro’s and the other side con’s. Now give a little thought to your problem, and list all the relevant facts you can think of under the appropriate heading.

When you have exhausted your lists, go back over each fact that you have listed. Ask yourself what you can do about each one. Make another list of all the possible actions that you could take. At this point, you may find it helpful to repeat the action and list more pro’s and cons against the possible solutions.

The more you repeat this exercise, the easier it will become. You’ll find that your subconscious mind will want to play along, and all manner of possible solutions will start to present themselves to you. If it’s possible, put your lists away for a while, and allow your subconscious more time work on your behalf. (under your pillow is always a good option, it allows the work to carry on without hindrance while you sleep). Sweet dreams :)

  • Tomorrow Never Comes

Never put off ’til tomorrow what you can do today. Tomorrow never comes. Today is the present, a gift that you have been given, why not use it to the best of your ability?

So often we put things off for another day, but the trouble is, life moves on, the opportunity of another day may not come. Then what happens? You are full of remorse for what might have been.

It’s a sad fact, that in spite of our good intentions, the often very small but important things in life are are pushed onto the back burner as being unimportant.

When did you last say I love you? or thank you? Or pay someone a compliment? Are you really so wrapped up in your own little world that you cannot spare a thought, or a kind word to someone?

It’s the little things in life that mean a lot to others. By making the smallest of gestures you can make a big difference to those around you. Consideration doesn’t have to cost a lot in time or money, it really is the thought that counts.

Remember that what goes around comes around, what you give out in life will return to you in abundance. Don’t put it off ’till tomorrow, the sooner you give, the sooner you will receive.

  • Whistle a Happy Tune

How do you treat the hiccups in your life? Do you wallow in woe and self pity? or do you shrug them off and whistle a happy tune?

Feeling sorry for yourself is a bad habit that must be overcome if you wish to attract more success and fulfillment into your life.

Negativity feeds upon negativity, it blocks abundance and prevents spiritual growth. If someone throws a spoke into your wheel, it will not help to wring your hands in self pity, you will fare far better if you try to find ways to overcome the difficulty.

Life is full of challenges, both large and small, and nobody has ever sailed through life without any mishaps or disappointment.

So why do you feel angry and resentful? It is not as though you are the only person in the world to have received a mishap. When you think of some of the tumultuous handicaps that others have overcome, do you not feel humbled?

Stop being a victim, get rid of the fear and self pity, don’t give away your personal power. You too, are worthy of success and you too, have been blessed with will power.

Next time you are faced with an unsettling situation, switch your thoughts to visions of a successful outcome. Repeat a favorite affirmation or mantra to yourself, whistle or hum a happy tune, hold your head up high and smile.

  • A Gift of Love

The greatest gift you can give to anyone, is a gift of love. A gift of love can take many forms, but one of the most powerful forms of love is the thought process.

Have you noticed, how the most happy and contented people in life are also the most loving and giving? It’s a two way process, what you give out in life returns to you ten fold.

To give love, and be loved in return, is one of greatest rewards in life. The importance of love and compassion is taught in all major religions, whereas pride, which in turn leads to jealousy and anger is to be shunned.

When you next feel the pangs of jealousy or anger rising, take a hold of yourself. Try to put yourself in the other persons shoes. That person is as human as you are, and you both have weaknesses. None of us are perfect, but each one of us is worthy of love. If you stand back and reflect, you will be able to find something to empathize with in every living soul.

Try now to find something, no matter how small, to like or even feel pity for, in anyone you normally associate with a feeling of dislike. Try to reverse those thoughts, and send new thoughts of love and compassion to that person.

You can send love out into the world through meditation, visualization, and by silent prayer. The love will return to you in many unexpected ways.

  • Are You Angry With the World?

Are the daily news bulletins dragging you down? Do the headlines make you seethe with rage? If so, it’s time switch off. If you are angry with the world, your inner self, happiness, and sense of well being will suffer.

When you are striving to find peace and contentment, when you are searching for spiritual well being, you must turn away from doom and gloom. There is a brighter side of life, you can choose which side to be on.

It’s really just like a radio or television program. If you do not like what is broadcasted, you simply switch off, or change channels and tune in to one that you find more pleasurable.

Why don’t you try to go without newspapers and news programs for a while? Forget about all that bah humbug stuff, refuse to be fed stress and anger fodder.

There are plenty of alternatives. A quick search on line will find you a host of sites that are full of good news, happy positive tales, amusing stories and pictures, and laugh out loud silly jokes.

Why not get your friends and family to join in? Make a happy pact between you. Agree to only pass on good news, happy news, amusing news.

Really, you will be quite amazed at the difference it will make to your outlook on life.

  • Who is Your Mentor?

Throughout the ages, successful people have attributed their success to a mentor. Actors, authors, sports men and women, great political and spiritual leaders, they will all proudly announce that their success was due to following in the footsteps of, a person for whom they had respect and admiration.

So who is your mentor? who do you regard as a symbol of what you yourself hope to achieve? Who do you most respect and admire? Who is your hero?

Your mentor could be someone alive today, or someone from history books. In fact you could even have more than one mentor. The important thing is for your mentors to have the qualities you wish for yourself.

Once you have chosen a mentor to emulate, the path to your success becomes a lot easier. Whenever you find yourself at a loss as to deal with a situation, just put yourself into your idols shoes..what would he/she do?

If the answer doesn’t present itself immediately, try a little light meditation. Go find yourself somewhere quiet where you will be undisturbed.

Make your self comfortable.. close your eyes…take a few long deep breaths and relax…Conjure up an image of your hero or heroine… picture that person in as much detail as you can…now watch as the scene unfolds before you…your mentor is faced with the same situation as yourself…what action does you mentor take?…watch carefully…take note and listen to any message that you may be given…continue to breath slowly and gently, let your subconscious mind absorb the answer you are given…when you are ready, silently give thanks and slowly let your mind return to the present.

Know that the answer will be given to you, even if not immediately, the solution will appear.

  • What Color is Your Aura?

The aura is an energy field of light surrounding the body of all living things. It’s likened to a heat haze. The color of your aura, can be any color of the rainbow depending upon your mood. Not everyone has the natural ability to actually see the aura, but most people can sense the atmosphere and mood that surrounds an individual.

The color of your aura corresponds to one of seven vital energy centers in the body called chakras. The chakras and associated colors, correspond to the endocrine glands of the body which run up along the spine.

Starting from the base of the spine is the root chakra and the color red. Next comes the sacral center which is orange, followed by the yellow centered solar plexus. Green is associated with the heart center, and blue for the throat. The ‘third’ eye is the center of the forehead and is colored indigo. Finally, comes the violet crown at the very top of your head.

Now if there is a blockage in one of your chakras you will need to draw the appropriate color to that area. This is best done by visualizing a bright colored light entering your body and centering on the chakra in question.

For example, if you are experiencing negative emotions, you should focus your attention on your sacral center, which is just below the navel and linked to the color orange.

Another area to focus your attention on here, is the solar plexus, positioned just below your breastbone. The color to visualize here is yellow.

I will add more helpful tips about your chakras in future postings, but for now practice drawing the colored light into your body. You will find that your subconscious will come into play, and you will be drawn to attract the color that you are in most need of.
